a day in my city

I'm sure you know by now that my husband Andy and I live in a little loft on the westside of Los Angeles. It's a great area, filled with warm breezy weather, the ocean and mountains, and inspiring shops and restaurants. And since I grew up in Pennsylvania––a beautiful state in its own right––I hold a unique lens as to what makes my neighborhood so rich and enviable. If you live near the area or are planning a visit, I put together a list of my favorite things to do in my part of town––from bright and early in the morning to late into the night. And just for fun, I'm pretending LA traffic is non-existent.

 • Wake up bright and early for a walk along Abbot Kinney in Venice Beach with Andy stopping at Rockenwagner Bakery for early morning coffee and admiring the bungalows through the back neighborhood roads.

• Continue walking to Main Street in Santa Monica, and take a turn onto Sunset Ave. to stop by Gjusta for some brunch to-go.

• Pack a basket full of fresh baked bread, cheese, olives, salad, grapes, sparkling water, and Pressed Juicery with beach blankets and pillows.

•Drive up the coast and land at El Matador beach in Malibu.

• After descending down the cliffs to the shore––have a picnic, swim in the ocean, climb rocks, read, take photos, and attempt surfing.

• Pack up, and then drive up Topanga Canyon to Trippet Ranch for a short hike to the Parker Mesa Overlook, which provides a great view of the ocean.

• Listen to an episode of Missed in History on the drive back down the coast and stop at Duke's for pineapple beer and the freshest fish tacos around.

• Stop by the Mar Vista Farmer's Market for plants, flowers, spices, and ice-cream.

• Do a little home shopping at Love Adorned, Burro, and The Piece Collective

• Take a night walk through the lit-up Venice Beach canals.

• Head home for drinks by our fire-pit.
