However, when shopping at Target I always ask myself a series of questions before deciding to buy. How is the item's quality, color; and, if it has one, print? When it comes to duvets I opt for solid, neutral color-ways like a fresh white or soft gray blue. Textured neutrals always look more expensive than a flat duvet in a bright, bold print. For the same reason, I prefer my sheets and shower curtain to have small-scale prints like a geometric or floral. For towel sets, however, I find the opposite to be true. Large scale prints have a higher quality look than the solids do. When it comes to lamps, I ignore the plastic and fake wood options and go for the metal or glass base.
A rule I never break in places like Target is staying away from fake wood. You can easily buy vintage for a lower cost or save a little extra for the real deal. I made sure the bed-stand below is real. And I'm prone to buying neutrals and soft color-ways. They not only look more expensive, but they're also season-less; and their color is much easier to match back to.
I put together my favorite bed and bath items––many which I own and love––to inspire the Target shopper in you. If any of you have favorite pieces from Target, I'd love to hear about them. It's always nice to switch things up.
