holiday baking and a giveaway

I usually try to spend a good portion of my weekends resting and catching up on chores. The recent rainy weather has been motivating me to spend extra time inside to get things crossed off my to-do list. The gloom has even inspired me to bake! I've wanted baking to be more of a regular occurrence in my schedule and the holidays provide the perfect excuse to get started. I found this classic chocolate chip cookie recipe, which was pretty effortless overall thanks to my aqua mixer, and baked us the tasty sweets we've been craving. I love that baking allows me to put some of my favorite kitchenwares to use. I had my eye on these measuring cups for some time, and then a friend of mine snagged them as a wedding gift for me and Andrew. They're one of those things I know I'll hold onto forever; and since the cups stack, they sit beautifully on the counter without getting in the way. And how pretty is that porcelain dessert plate for displaying the cookies?

Candles, of course, aren't needed to bake, but they are a small detail that I have always loved to have in the room no matter what I am doing. I am fully aware of my candle obsession, so I always make sure to have multiples in stock since I burn through them so quickly. Lately I've been entranced by the Gilded Amberleaf Candle. The candle is infused with vetiver, mandarin, vanilla and tobacco; and manages to transform my kitchen into a much cozier and fragrant spot to bake in. If you'd like to have one for yourself or give one as a holiday gift, Harvey's Counter has been kind enough to give one of their Gilded Amberleaf Candles away to one of my readers! To enter, follow me on twitter and instagram, and then leave a comment on where you'll burn it in your house. It's that simple! The winner will be chosen at random next Friday morning.

PS. If you're looking for a place to stay in New York, check out the Harvey House, a hotel that sells decor within each of their rooms.

Winner: Gerry Wildes

Sorry, but the giveaway is limited to US readers only. I will be contacting the winner prior to announcing them on the bottom of this post. If winners do not claim after three days, a new winner will be chosen.

I love candles! They are truly a big way to calm and relax a long day so I would burn this candle on my side desk next to my bed with a romance book. And by the way I'm moving to New York on the 26 so thanks for the hotel info ☺️☺️
